Jhonny Peralta hits his first grand slam for the Tigers and it really did not matter. Ouch. Detroit had 12 hits and lost. Ouch.
The Colorado Rockies were not exactly lighting up broadway coming into Friday's contest with only a 33-35 season record, but they sure made this interleague game appear as magic against the crew from Detroit.
Jim Leyland was once the skipper for the Rockies, but you could tell by looking at him that he is a Tiger through-and-through now. He winced and mouthed a couple of 'expletive deleteds' after a sloppy pitch called for a strike that should have ended the inning in the 2nd but led to a 6-run barrage that doomed the Tabbies.
Meanwhile, Cleveland won at home against the Pirates and edged ahead of the Tigers in the standings again. We are going to dig in at CUBS' AC on Saturday evening for the 2nd game of this series against Colorado and savor a unique Reuben Pizza while watching the game on the big screens.
