You've gotta like the little guy. He has done this already once this year - come off the bench and win the game for the Tigers in one swing of the bat, that is. It came at the right time.
Doug Fister had a no-hitter going into the 7th. Hopes were high and he was looking masterful. Then, Alex Gordon who is hitting .305 stepped in and hits a double. Kansas City crafted a run by getting him home after a bunt and a sacrifice fly. Oh! Now we get it! That's how it's done!! <wink-wink>
The Tigers, meanwhile, were not exactly looking like the Kings of the Mountain in the batter's box. They were kept pretty much in check and had only 2 hits themselves after 7 complete innings. They had only 6 hits all night, as a matter of fact.
But in comes the Mighty Mouse (maybe that is not accurate, but he is the smallest guy on the team) and Detroit drops the Kansas City Royals to stay 5 games ahead in the AL Central standings, bringing the Magic Number finally down to №23.
Wednesday is the 3rd game of this series and it's a day game followed by another tomorrow. (day games are not the Tigers best this season, they prefer night) Join us for lunch at CUBS' AC and we'll watch it on the big screens while chowing down on some Jack Daniel's Burger and topping it off with some Cheesecake.
