London Olympics / Tigers
The Tigers did avoid the sweep in Boston Wednesday night thanks to a monstrous home run by Miggy that literally went out of Fenway and landed somewhere closer to New Hampshire. They get a day off Thursday and return to Comerica to battle the Indians this weekend.
I think we ought to start appreciating the effort put out by these Olympic athletes from around the world. It's not just the Twitter gossip about LeBron James getting turned down for a simple dinner date at the food court. It can be murder out there! Just look above at Barbara Bujka from Hungary after a water polo tackle.
You can bet that the athletes are chomping at the bit to get attention - not only from their home countries. They are chomping one another. There is a true 'Spirit of Competition' that embraces these young people. The Olympic Village is a combination of very ridiculously high paid professional NBA players down to semi-pro (there are no challenging water-polo careers in Eastern Europe) athletes thrown together in a very crowded temporary dorm setting. We just wonder what they would do if they had to get a day job.
So if you are ready to grab a
look at the London games OR maybe the Tigers taking on the Cleveland Indians Friday evening you can rely on us. Here at CUBS' AC & Colonial Lanes the air
conditioners are ON and we are
keeping the beer frosty
cold in the coolers. Grab a
few!
Join us at CUBS' AC (in the bar that faces the giant car wash) and we'll see if the German Women's Beach Volleyball Team captures your imagination or maybe the thrilling badminton or archery finals. What a choice. Watch the game(s) on our big screens while chowing down on a CUBS' Calzone!!
Miguel Cabrera walks with the bases loaded in Boston
You would be surprised to watch how tough the women play each other in water polo. Not just holding by the tank top, mind you.
This is the same girl in the water polo suit. A face only a Mother could Love?
How about a knuckle sandwich?
A little easier on the eyes is Beach Volleyball.
