MVP and Triple Crown recipient Miguel Cabrera emerges from

The Tigers are facing the most improbable team this Saturday.  Just 9 games ago the Oakland Athletics were 5 games out of first looking at no playoff dream chances and here they are Champions of the American League West.  Who would have thunk?

 We kept our eyes on Miguel Cabrera who really did not have to play at all in Wednesday's regular season finale, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout and a fly out.  He became the first true Triple Crown player since Carl Yastrzemski did it in 1967.

Detroit gets a few days rest before playing the Oakland Athletics in the best of five AL divisional playoff starting here in Detroit on Saturday evening.  The baseball game comes right on the heels of college football where Michigan travels to West Lafayette, Indiana to take on a respectable Boilermaker squad.  Let's hope the Michigan Wolverines get back on the winning track!
