The AP #3 (and looking up!) Michigan Wolverines took on Coach John Beilein's previous West Virginia team in the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival Saturday night and did not disappoint, winning the game 81-66. This was highly anticipated as a potential 'high profile' contest when the season schedule was developed, but West Virginia had stumbled to a disappointing .500 season.
John Beilein had built West Virginia into a contender when he served there - putting three national tournaments onto his resume - and that said a lot when he was considered for taking the controls in Ann Arbor at Crisler Arena back in 2007.
The Wolverines have now matched their best season start since 1989 at 11-0 -- when The Fab Five and Michigan Mens' Basketball won the National Championship.
John Beilein has crafted a great squad in these Wolverines. It appears the Freshmen have put Michigan in a position to drive to a national championship! The Michigan coach downplays all of the positive hype going on, but there is good reason in 'Ol Ann Arbor Town to be optimistic this year!
