Are Wolverines an Illusion?

 No Excuses !
Spartans Were Great
Wolverines Lay Another Egg
The Michigan State Spartans were strutting.
 And they deserved to.
Do you think anybody noticed?  Was that a 23 point 'whuppin' like it was in the "good 'ol days?"

No stranger to controversy.  David Letterman is the recipient of
the 2007 Sagamore of the Wabash Award.
If anyone watched David Letterman a bit later after the game they heard him say, "Take that Michigan sweatshirt and get out of here!"
I know he was talking about the Pope resigning at that point in the monologue, but it was clear that the intent was to highlight the most infuriating news of the day and at that moment it was the Michigan Wolverines deflating their national "Id."  The tough choice (?) was watching the SOTU or the basketball game.  You can draw your own conclusions as to which event Letterman was watching.

They not only lost the game, they lost the lock on a championship in the regular  B1G  season standings and now must perform a radical exorcism and win the  B1G  Tournament to save face.
A hostile place, that Breslin Center.  But Michigan was totally unprepared
for this game and it showed as they dropped it 75-52 .
The fans in East Lansing were rabid. (It is a veterinary school after all)  In a single week the Michigan Wolverines went all the way from Snow White to the Wicked Witch of the West and down the stairs like Cinderella and never did find shoes to put on.
Starting forward Jordan Morgan was back in the lineup but it did not
matter.  He seemed tentative and scored only 1 point in 9 minutes.
After a 16-0 start, the Wolverines are 5-4 since then.  O.K.  It's MSU and that means blood.  But Michigan was not anywhere close to getting into this contest.  The  B1G  actually IS the best conference in the country and that parity is for real.
Mitch McGary had trouble muscling through the Spartan's defense.
Once leading the nation in field goal percentage, Michigan shot only 40% in East Lansing.  Tim Hardaway Jr. had twice as many rebounds as points and that was only 2.  But hey - he matched Glenn Robinson III.  Two.  The only Wolverines in double figures were Trey Burke (18) and Nik Stauskas (10). Credit the Spartans defense?
A happy Spartan fan base reacts to a 30 point lead.
What will it take to bounce back after a beat down like this one?  Crushing the Nittany Lions at Crisler this coming Sunday?  Maybe.    Hopefully that is a given and the slide the Wolverines have been on the last 3 games out of 4 will reverse itself.

It's a "Wolverine Meal Deal" this weekend. We are taking 15% OFF your purchase of a meal* when you present your ticket stub just after the Wolverines play at home.  We encourage your attendance at all Michigan sporting events and we want to make it easy for you to get to the arena on time!
