Maized Out!

Maized Out!
Beating Ohio State
Wolverines Start Fast This Time,
Prevail in Overtime 76-74

The final buzzer sounds in overtime and U-M wins 76-74.
Indiana couldn't wait to surprise the world when they beat the Wolverines at last Saturday's huge showdown.  Then, into Crisler Center comes a crew of talented Buckeyes smacking their lips ready to pick the bones dry on national TV to pull off another embarrassment.  Fortunately for us, the "Maize Out Crew" were seated early and loud!!
One big story of the night was Trey Burke versus
Aaron Craft.  Trey Burke blocks this shot in OT.
The sports press were ready to write the epitaph for the Wolverines following their disheartening loss in Bloomington, but Michigan Coach John Beilein was celebrating his 60th birthday and the team was not going to let him down.  The atmosphere was tantalizingly "Maizey" and the coach remarked that it would be tough for anyone in the country to win against that crowd - even with the late start for national TV at 9:00pm local time on a school night.  The Wolverines hold the #3 AP Ranking and remain along with Gonzaga as the only teams in the Top 25 with 21 victories in the latest AP Polls.
Tim Hardaway Jr. was HOT from 3-point range
knocking down 6 of 9 and was the game high scorer.
The Ohio State Buckeyes actually held a one point lead going into halftime.  Starting cold, the Buckeyes came together and even shot over 60% from the field in the 2nd half.  This was a great game with two great competitors - anytime you say Michigan v. Ohio State - it is going to be special, and the television programmers knew that.
Mitch McGary continues to improve and
is one of several freshmen who are standouts.
One has to respect what it takes to bounce back after a big letdown.  In the B1G this is going to be the difference between the champion and the rest of a very fine collection of teams - possibly the best college basketball conference in the nation.
Jon Horford and Trey Burke lead the team down-court after a basket.

The story of the game?  The Michigan 'D' and the Maize Out!!

The story of the game was the Michigan defense, which on
on this play saw Tim Hardaway Jr. block Aaron Craft's shot.
So here we go!!  Michigan travels to Madison to play the Badgers and then to East Lansing for the next two games and the road to the B1G Conference Championship lies in that treacherous pathway.  Those make for perfect outings because you can catch the game with all of us at CUBS' A.C. and join us watching on BIG H-D Screens!
