We said it yesterday. "Pinch me.  Go ahead."  The Tigers set records for the opposing team that will stand for decades.  These statistics are nothing to be proud of.  The only people enjoying this were the LA Fans who sang and danced and twisted and turned in sheer glory and glee.   Totally weak performances the last three games have made Detroit the laughing stock of the major leagues.

Rick Porcello said he was getting his pitches to work.  Obviously the Angels agreed.  In 2/3 of the 1st inning Detroit finds itself down 9-0 and the bases are still loaded.  And again, Detroit was getting some hits.  They followed up on Friday's debacle by getting 2 fewer hits - just 4.   Miguel Cabrera actually had a pretty double.  But the fact remains:  The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are getting very healthy very fast on raw Tiger meat.

Let's not get into too many details.  Ten strikeouts to the #5 pitcher on the LA squad says it all.  Detroit raised Garrett Richards SO total up to 14 for the year in a single swoop.  But this game was over for Detroit's starter before the first inning was finished.

This west coast trip has turned into a disaster.  The Kansas City Royals crept up ahead of Detroit in the standings Friday (percentage-wise) and lost as well on Saturday, so the Tigers remain virtually tied for 1st place in the standings.  Not because of anything but luck.  

The Tigers will play the Angels again Sunday at 3:35pm.
