| Rick Porcello wears the throwback Tiger uniform. Here he is pitching in the 4th, but he gets a no decision again. |
The Dodgers were wearing baby blue Brooklyn uniforms and the Tigers were sporting a really big 'D' on their caps with the throwback war-time uniforms from 1944. Whatever it was, it worked for the Detroit Tigers for a grace-saving victory in Los Angeles.
Rick Porcello got little but bad breaks and it was up to the bullpen to preserve the win to avoid being swept by the Dodgers Wednesday afternoon. L.A. actually outhit Detroit 13-10 but left the bases loaded twice as the Tiger hurlers stiffened and got critical strikeouts.
The result was a dismal 4-2 west coast road trip for the Tigers and if it were not for Cleveland hitting their own bumps in the road Detroit would be falling off the pace again instead of sitting only one game back in the standings.
The Tigers return to Comerica Park on Friday to open a series against none other than Manager Kirk Gibson and the Arizona Diamondbacks this weekend. Sunday is a special day when Sparky Anderson's number 11 is retired. We'll be here at CUBS' AC watching it all on the big screens............
GO TIGERS!! GO CUBS' AC!!
