Leyland Gets Ejected - Tigers Go On To Win

First base Umpire Ed Rupuano changed his call and Jim Leyland went on
a four minute tirade (here against crew chief Brian O'Nora) which got him ejected.
If you are old enough to remember that silly insult you are old enough to realize that you can't always have your own way.  In contrast, you have to make a point when you know you are right and take it as far as you can, which is what Jim Leyland did Monday night at Comerica Park.

What was interesting was that everybody just watched and let the outburst run its course.  The result made no difference, as the Tigers rebounded in the next inning on Peralta's triple and they held on to beat Toronto in this make-up game from May 17th.

The Blue Jays were determined to extend their winning streak - Bautista was getting clutch hits - and their pitcher, Stewart, was largely keeping the Tigers in check.  Max Scherzer held Toronto to 2 runs as did the Blue Jay's starter but it was the middle relievers who decided this one.  The umpire arguments were only for drama in the 7th inning after all.

It's back to interleague play Tuesday night in a rare but entertaining series against the New York Mets, and we'll all be at CUBS' AC watching it on the big screens while snarfing down some Loaded Potato Crunchers from the Specials menu this week.

GO TIGERS!!
