After losing his last 2 starts Justin Verlander has got himself back in the groove and it looks like the Detroit Tigers have finally shaken their bad habit of the mid-season dip and slide.
The Tigers played well on both sides of the ball and they welcomed their new starting 3rd baseman Wilson Betemit by shooting down the Twins starter Carl Pavano and collected 12 hits on their way to a win at Target Field in Minneapolis.
Verlander threw eight dominant innings, Jhonny Peralta drove in three runs with three hits and Detroit beat the Twins Thursday night for their 10th straight win in a row over them. Brennan Boesch hit a two-run homer, and Miguel Cabrera , Victor Martinez and Peralta - batting fourth, fifth and sixth - were all over the Twins in this important four-game series in the AL Central race.
We are at it again Friday evening watching game two on the big screens from Minneapolis in air conditioned comfort at CUBS' AC while savoring another plate of those great BBQ Ribs from the kitchen.
