The San Francisco Giants are a team like Jekyll and Hyde. They have arguably the best pitching staff in the National League while also the worst - dead last - offense in the majors. But you know what they say - "Good Pitching Beats Good Hitting."

Not that Detroit was doing itself any favors anyway, but Cabrera flung a pickoff to Peralta that soared into center field which was a toss my great-great-grandmother would have nailed. Austin Jackson was picked off at 3rd. Brandon Inge was moon-walking around and had a couple of bloopers, too.
These were sculpted around a very impressive double play in the 1st inning by Casper Wells, who threw a laser beam to home plate and should have made the play of the week were it not for so many outrageously silly others on this night.
The 9th inning drama and immediate deflating letdown were the frosting on this cake. A frustrated Wilson "The Beard" smashed a cooler on national TV and with bases loaded and 1 out Boesch hits into a double-play and that was the straw that broke our backs.
We'll be at it again Saturday evening at CUBS' AC watching the second game of this series on the big screens.
