Scherzer Fans Pirates - Tigers Win 4-3

Max Scherzer came into this game at 2-3. He has had a tough year so far. Not all of it is his fault, though. In his 3rd season in Detroit he raises his life-long record to 39-38. (That just does not seem right.)
Then who was that guy with the colorful eyes on this day?
A weekend with two amazing pitching performances. We never thought we would see that up to this point. It seemed the pitching (other than our ace J.V.) was our Achilles heel. But no. 15 Strikeouts in a single game on this sunny Sunday. That is equivalent to 5 full innings. A low pitch-count to boot. And all this on the back-side of the series which began with a gorgeous 1-hitter by Justin Verlander on Friday evening.
Pittsburgh must be rubbing its' eyes.
No time for distractions now, though. The Tigers are languishing in third place behind Cleveland and Chicago. And they go on the road to face the Indians for the first time this season on Tuesday. They'll be gone for the next 10 days after resting on Monday.
Guess what? We have not seen the last of Andrew McCutchen, either. We'll play these Pirates again this season. On their home turf.
These games are getting much more fun to watch when they have the exciting play and performances we have just seen. As always, they are shown LIVE on Big Screens at CUBS' A.C.
