The All Star break is traditionally when baseball fans and pros alike make their adjustments to predictions and this year it actually does not seem like the mud gets any clearer to see through.  The cluster at the top of the AL Central is much tighter than in recent years, with Chicago making strong moves to claim the division - having added Kevin Youklis from Boston - and Detroit appears to be on a winning course, now.

Max Scherzer was largely effective and only gave up 1 run on this
homer to catcher Salvadore Perez in the 3rd.

The Tigers decisively swept the Royals on Sunday winning 7-1 with great performances on both sides offensively and defensively.  Max Scherzer was back in form and walked only one man.  There were some tense moments, but then timely strikeouts stifled the uprisings.  The Tigers set an all-time MLB record for strikeouts before the All Star break at 714!!  This also marked the first time that Detroit has won 5 in-a-row this season. 

Delmon Young is sneaking up on everybody.  He has homered
in the last 4 games and continues to pile up the RBI's.

Speaking of HOT - We hope you are keeping cool.  (Here is some advice if you care.)  Power outages have taken their toll on many in the metro area and at CUBS' AC & Colonial Lanes the air conditioners are ON and the beer is frosty cold in the coolers.

The Detroit Tigers have been struttin' their stuff and are now only ½ game away from Cleveland in 2^nd sitting 2 above .500 for the first time since April 25th.  Both the Indians and the Chicago White Sox lost Sunday to shorten the gap at the break.   

Join us at CUBS' AC Tuesday evening and we'll see if Fielder, Cabrera and starter Justin Verlander representing Detroit can restore the roar to the Motor City watching the All Star Game on the big screens while chowing down on some of our famous Pepperoni Twists!!
