A hot and humid Hispanic night at Comerica Park gets briefly doused
by a flash thunderstorm which emptied the lower level stands.

The Tigers do look better in person, to be honest.  Sure - it is comfortable to snuggle up to the bar at CUBS' AC - but you know the Mariachi bands sound better when they are live, too.  This home stand for Detroit is turning into a mighty nice weekend for a change.  And a wet one at that.  Not that we didn't need it.  The final score was 6-1, but it could have easily been more of a rout like Friday night's blowout.

It was a long night and Doug Fister's first complete game as a Tiger.

Doug Fister was flawless through nearly 7 innings.  Not that many 'K's' but straight 3-and-outs nonetheless.  The Mexican jumping beans were not exactly hopping for the Indians.

Statistics for this game were quite rare.  14 hits - 4 doubles and 4 triples and ZERO home runs.  "This is highly improbable", as Sheldon would say on Big Bang Theory.

When you think of fireworks you think of the Chinese.  But on this night you could hear and see the most noise coming from the Latino community - over the public address announcements and from the bands and the dancers and the kids celebrating, too.

The fireworks were not only on the field of play.

The fireworks displays are amazing.  Obviously you could not manually setup such a thing like this.  But whether or not it is computer controlled, the sight is grand when you see it coming out of center field.

Saturday night games at Comerica Park are somewhat
of a spectacle now with high-tech digital pyro shows.

Actually, you would not mind having to wait through a downpour if you are under the roof sections on level 200 as we were.

A tarp crew to be proud of.  It got wet fast and so did the field.

Detroit gained a game on the White Sox, too.  As we head into the last turn for the season (107 games played already!) it appears the batting lineup and the pitching are getting it together.

Saturday wasn't just soggy.  It was also Hispanic-Latino night and half
of the PA announcements were in Spanish.

So if you are ready - the Tigers take on the Cleveland Indians Sunday afternoon ¡Arriba!  and you can rely on us.  Here at CUBS' AC & Colonial Lanes the air conditioners are ON and we are keeping the beer frosty cold in the coolers. Grab a few!
