It was sort of eerie looking at a mostly empty Angels Stadium, but you have to remember that it was Noon on a work day in California and anybody who could reasonably blow it off and attend a Tigers game probably had more important things to do. Just as well.
Both Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez broke out of their respective goose egg streaks and combined for enough RBIs to knock the Angels out of the chance to sweep the Detroit Tigers Wednesday afternoon in style. Brad Penny was shining. Is that corny, or what?
Still, Detroit lags behind the Cleveland Indians by 1½ and they travel to Kansas City today to grapple with the Royals who just flipped off the Chicago White Sox. KC has always been a thorn for the Tigers, and they are celebrating at Kauffman Stadium, so this will be a tough series.
